Grady Little was fired. They said it wasn't because of game 7, but you have to believe it was a big part of it.
They put Manny on irrevokeable waivers. No takers. They wooed Curt Schilling and Terry Francona simultaneously. They stole Keith Foulke from the cash-poor A's. All the
while they tried to make the mega-deal with A-Rod. They'd trade Manny for A-Rod straight up to Texas and work out the financial deal. Then they'd trade

in the game. The deal was ok with Texas, ok with the Red Sox, ok with A-Rod - only to be vetoed by ... the Players' Association.
So the Red Sox would go into battle with the same team. Only late in February, the Evil Empire struck again. A-Rod, so anxious to get out of
Texas, decided it would be ok to move to 3rd and play alongside Jeter. Red Sox fans were livid. Steinbrenner and John Henry had a huge war
2004 promises to be a huge year. The Red Sox Yankees rivalry hit a fever pitch, and tickets to Sox games are
impossible to get. Will this be the year?
