Red Sox at Cleveland
B.K. Kim vs. Jeff D'Amico
The Sox come into this one riding a horrible 5 game skid. After 6 in a row, they had a
rain delay/rainout in Texas, and Pedro had nothing better to do than shoot his mouth off
about his contract. He tried even to drag the other F.A.'s Lowe, Varitek, and Nomar
into his whining tirade. Then he outdid himself by pitching perhaps his worst game ever
the following night, getting totally hammered by the A-Rod-less Rangers. That set the
tone of a hitting drought and some poor defense along the way to 5 straight losses.
Meanwhile, the Yankees beat up on Oakland's best to evaporate the Sox early lead.
Tonight, the hitting drought came to an end as Ortiz and Mueller hit 3 run homers. B.K.
Kim was terrible, but the relief was good enough to hold down the fort for a 9-5 victory.
Sox are 16-11 now, and the Yankees are losing again to the A's. But the A's bullpen has
been horrible without Foulke. Perhaps we could lend him out for a night.
